Agour d’Irati cheese dairy
Next to Saint Jean Pied de Port, in the heart of the exceptional natural site of the Iraty forest, our cheese dairy welcomes you for a gourmet and instructive visit around the cheese secrets of the Basque Country.
This cheese factory, which aims to enhance the production of the shepherds of the valley and to ensure the sustainability of future generations, is a model in terms of respect for the environment (recyclable materials, energy optimization, landscape integration, etc.).
The site has been specially designed for the visit. The corridor, equipped with large panoramic windows on the production tool, crosses the whole of the cheese dairy and makes it possible to follow the cycle of manufacture of the cheeses. Videos in Basque and French punctuate the discovery.
The visit ends with the tasting of the products of the Agour house.
Everyone is then free to enter the shop’s maturing cellar to choose their favorite cheese in order to take home the best of the Basque Country!
